High School Boys’ Junior Varsity Basketball Coach
Victory Charter School is taking applications and resumes for the position of high school boys’ junior varsity (JV) basketball coach. The high school boys’ basketball season begins in November and ends in March. The JV coach will also assist the boys’ varsity basketball coach.
Duties as the JV basketball coach include: Collecting and keeping all required medical and parent consent forms; enforcing and modeling professionalism, discipline and sportsmanship at all times, including effective communication skills and modeling positive attitude and effort; supporting and adhering to policies and rules established by the IHSAA, State Board of Education, and Victory Charter School; carrying out safe and effective practices that emphasize team unity while developing student athletes’ fundamentals and skills; establishing consistent and fair team guidelines. Additionally, coaches must be aware of and support the tenets of the Harbor School Method, the method upon which the school was founded, so that the activities of the basketball team are consistent with the players’ academic experience.
Upon hire, the coach must be able to pass a background check and complete the following certifications: St. Luke's Concussion Course, NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course, NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Teacher Certification OR NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching. They must also have a current CPR/First-Aid Certification.
