VICTORY CHARTER AWARDS PROGRAMS
CITIZEN OF THE WEEK
This award is given to students in each class who exhibit kindness, responsibility and helpfulness. This is presented in class by the principal or appointee and accompanied by written accolades from the teacher.
CITIZEN OF THE MONTH
This award is given to those students who exhibit exemplary behavior and characteristics of being a good citizen, as these are the ones who, as adults, will get the promotions and pay raises in the workplace.
These include:
- A good citizen is kind and supportive of other students. This would be compared to an adult citizen who is a good neighbor in the community.
- A good citizen is responsible and turns in all work on time. This would be compared to an adult good citizen who can be counted on to do a good job and is trusted by his/her employer.
- A good citizen follows the rules. This would be compared to an adult citizen who does not break the law.
- A good citizen exhibits interest and enthusiasm about learning. This would be compared to those employees, who get the promotions at work, i.e.; a boss will not promote an employee who rolls his eyes when asked to learn something new or complete a task.
- A good citizen gets to school on time. Owners of companies or managers do not give pay raises to those employees who are tardy.
The Citizen of the Month award is presented in a school assembly and students get to have a special lunch with the principal and other awardees.
CLASS AWARDS
The classes that reach the “Victory Charter School Standard” on the vocabulary words in both creativity and performance will “Go on the Road” with the principal on Friday afternoon to perform their skits for other classes. When a class is chosen for this honor they will not have homework the night before they perform and the class will choose a favorite art project or other reward when they return on Friday to their classroom.
HALL OF FAME
The Hall of Fame/Mad Minute program is designed to promote accuracy in math and other facts.
The benefits of this process are:
- Students learn to “read” basic math facts without the necessity of computation. This greatly enhances their ability to perform math concepts and higher math.
- Students learn basic facts about parts of speech, geography and history that will enhance their ability to read, write and speak. This ability contributes to a knowledgeable, well-rounded adult aiding in the pursuit of higher learning.
- The process of memorizing facts promotes good study skills.
Promotes parent/family involvement:
- Completion of fact sets provides opportunities for families to acknowledge their student’s accomplishments, reinforcing their educational efforts.
- Families can assist their student’s efforts by providing: 1 minute timed practice at home, family competitions and special rewards for passing of fact sets.
Facts in bold type are required for each grade. Students should pass the facts in BOLD print prior to other categories. Once all of the facts are passed for their grade, students may progress to the Famous 1, 2, and 3 lists, which can be completed in any order.
First Grade

Famous Hall of Fame
Once all the categories are passed for their grade, students may progress to the Famous list, which do not have to be completed in order. Students can choose any 7 categories but must pass each worksheet within that category with 100%. Spelling should be pretty close unless the word is printed in front of them or in a “Key Blank”. Only students in 5th and 6th grades will be awarded a plaque. Students may obtain copies to study from their teacher or from the office.
